Information on SBDM Councils:
What is a council?  The council is the governing body for this school.  It determines school policy for curriculum, staffing, discipline, scheduling, instructional practices, extracurricular activities, and other matters pertinent to the operation of the school.  The council meets once a month on a date and time that is suitable to all parties.
Who serves on the council?  Normally, two parents, three teachers, and the principal. A third parent representative may be elected if minority representation is needed on the Council.
Who may run for the council?  Any parent, stepparent, foster parent, or legal guardian of a student who will be attending the school during the entire term of office.  A parent is ineligible if he or she is an employee or a relative of an employee of that school or the district central office or a local school board member or the spouse of a school board member.
What is the term of office?  One year or two years.
Who may vote in an election?  Parents, stepparents, foster parents, and legal guardians of the students who will be attending duPont Manual High School during the upcoming school year.

Parent representatives:

  Janie Anthony: janthony@meredith-dunn-school.org

  Phillip Bond: phillip.bond@metrounitedway.org

The parent representative election results are in!

Sharon Gray has been elected to serve from July 2010 to June 2011, and

Tim DeLong has been elected to serve from July 2010 to June 2012.

Thank you to all the parents who took part in the election by running for office and by voting. We had an amazing number of well- qualified candidates. This is another example of the commitment Manual's parents show towards the education of our children.
